Campus Ruckus to Impact Kroger Field & Nearby Parking Areas

Fireworks are being planned for Campus Ruckus 2021, an annual back-to-school bash. To make room for the show, 165 spaces in the Kroger Field Periphery (K) Blue Lot will be reserved beginning on Friday, August 13. This 200 x 200 square foot area is located in the middle section of the Blue Lot, adjacent to Alumni Drive, and will serve as the staging spot for the fireworks show.

Parking Control Information Update

Summer parking control on campus ends on Friday, August 13, which means that summer parking permits will not be valid after that date. Beginning Saturday, August 14, and extending through Sunday, August 22, the Kroger Field Periphery (K) lots, R19 lots, and Remote (X) lots will not be controlled for parking permits. These lots are temporarily off control for this two-week period to assist with student move-in. They return to regular parking control on the first day of classes, Monday, August 23.

Parking Citation Fine Increase & Courtesy Void Program Expansion

Beginning July 1, campus parking citation fines will increase for the first time since 2006, with the most common violations increasing from $25 to $30 per occurrence. At the same time, UK Transportation Services is also expanding its courtesy void policy for UK parking permit holders to allow for two courtesy voids per fiscal year rather than one.

Periphery, Remote & Off-Peak Permit Sales Start Thursday, July 8

Student periphery (K), remote (X) and off-peak (O) parking permits will go on sale beginning at noon on Thursday, July 8.

Special Saturday Office Hours this Week

UK Transportation Services will have special Saturday office hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 26 to make it easier for students, staff and faculty to pick up or purchase a parking permit.   Employee parking permits expire on Wednesday, June 30, and new permits must be displayed starting Thursday, July 1.

Commuter Permit Sales Open to Broader Group on Tuesday

Student commuter (C) permits will go on sale to the broader commuter student population with 60 or more credit hours starting at noon on Tuesday, June 22. Sales will continue on a first-come first-served basis until they are sold out. Commuter permits for the new academic year cost $320, which is the same rate as last year. They are only available for purchase for a full academic year.

UKHC Employee Parking Details for Friday, June 18

Juneteenth will be observed as an official holiday by the University of Kentucky on Friday, June 18, and most University offices will be closed. However, UK HealthCare (UKHC) ambulatory clinics and other outpatient support areas will remain open. With the reduced demand for parking on campus, UKHC employees may take advantage of additional parking options on Friday. Employees may consider parking in the Rose Street Garage (PS #2), the Sports Center Garage (PS #7), and in the Kroger Field Red Lot, all of which offer close proximity to the UKHC campus.

Cooper House Employee Lot to Close

A small employee parking lot referred to as the Cooper House lot, will close permanently, effective Monday, June 21.

Campus Transit Update on Mask Requirements

Beginning today, mask requirements on campus have relaxed significantly for fully vaccinated individuals, but please be aware that facial coverings are still required when loading, unloading and riding on public transportation.
